Paz Vega was born and raised in Seville, Spain, where she grew up with her younger sister, Sara Vega. Her parents were both working-class, her father a former bullfighter and her mother a housewife. Vega began studying journalism at the University of Seville but dropped out to pursue a career in acting.

She made her acting debut in the Spanish television series, Menudo es mi padre, in 1996, and went on to appear in several other Spanish television shows and films. In 2001, she gained international recognition for her role as Flor Moreno in the film, Spanglish, alongside Adam Sandler and Téa Leoni.

Paz Vega is married to Orson Salazar, a Venezuelan businessman, and they have three children together: Orson, Ava, and Lenon. The couple met in 2002 while Vega was filming the movie, Talk to Her, in Venezuela. They got married in 2002 in a private ceremony in the Maldives.

Aside from her husband and children, Vega is also close to her sister, Sara Vega, who is also an actress. The two sisters have worked together in several Spanish television shows and films.
